Terms of Service
Last updated: October 5, 2026
1. The agreement
Novelody is a reading app that pairs books with soundtracks. These Terms are an agreement between you and RinVTech, 77 Puławska, Apt. U.5, 02-595 Warszawa, Poland ("we"), which runs Novelody on the web at novelody.com and as an iPhone app. By creating an account or using Novelody you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.
2. Who can use Novelody
You must be at least 16. Some features work before you register, and these Terms cover that use in the same way.
Your account is yours alone. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has been in your account.
3. What is free and what is Plus
Reading, tracking, composing and listening are free, within the limits described in section 8. Plus is an optional paid membership that adds extras; the Plus page lists them at the moment you buy. We may add to what Plus includes.
4. Buying Plus
Offers and prices. Before you pay, the Plus page shows the offers open to you and what each costs. Some are a single payment for Plus for life. Others are a membership billed every month or every year. Where the law requires prices to include tax, they do.
Renewal. A membership renews automatically, at the price you were shown when you bought it, until you cancel. If we change the price of a membership, we tell you before your next renewal, in time for you to cancel before the new price applies.
Canceling. Cancel whenever you like: in Settings on the web, or in your Apple account if you bought in the iPhone app. Plus stays on until the end of the period you paid for and then does not renew.
Refunds. On the web, Novelody Plus is sold by Stripe's Link as the merchant of record, so your receipt and statement name Link. If you bought on the web, write to [email protected] within 14 days of paying and we refund you in full. You don't have to give a reason. If you live in the EU or the UK, this is also how you use your legal right to withdraw. Purchases made in the iPhone app are billed by Apple, so a refund for one is requested from Apple.
When Plus ends. When a membership ends or a purchase is refunded, the Plus extras switch off. Nothing you made is deleted. Everything in your account stays, and the free features go on working.
Plus for life. "For life" means for as long as Novelody operates and your account exists. It belongs to your account and cannot be transferred or sold.
5. Using Novelody fairly
You agree not to:
- post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening or sexually explicit, or anything aimed at a particular person;
- post text you have no right to publish, long passages from books included. Notes and quotes are for your own reading, and nothing you publish may reproduce a work;
- use Novelody for spam or advertising;
- overload, probe or scrape the service, create accounts automatically, or get around a limit or the sign-in;
- pretend to be someone else, or use a second account to dodge a limit or a block.
6. Your content
What you create in Novelody is yours: notes, quotes, chapter maps, soundtracks and their names, votes, your nook. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy and display it, only as far as running the service for you requires. For private content the license ends when you delete the content or your account.
Publishing and sharing. When you publish a soundtrack or chapter map, contribute a chapter title, post a note in a group or share your nook, other readers see it under your display name, and the license covers showing it to them. Published soundtracks, chapter maps and chapter titles stay in the catalog after you delete your account, without your name. Unpublish them first if you want them gone.
Moderation. We may hide or remove content that breaks these Terms. Content that readers report may be hidden automatically until we have looked at it. If we hide or remove something of yours we tell you why, and you can ask us to look again by writing to [email protected].
Copyright. If you believe something on Novelody infringes your rights, the content removal page says how to tell us.
7. Reading with others
Read-together groups, friend streaks and nook visits put you in touch with other readers. An invite link lets in anyone who has it, so pass it only to the people you mean to invite. You can leave a group, end a streak, block a reader or report something at any time. We are not responsible for what other readers post, but we do act on reports.
8. Generated content and limits
Soundtracks and chapter maps are composed by an AI model, and the results can be wrong or incomplete. None of it is advice of any kind.
Composing has limits, and we may change them.
9. Music
Novelody does not own the music and does not sell it. It comes from third parties under their own terms.
Full-length tracks come from the Audius catalog under the Open Music License. Audio is streamed directly from Audius to your device; Novelody does not proxy, copy, cache or store it, and offers no downloads. The license requires the artist's name and a link to the track's page wherever a track plays, which is why that credit appears with every track and cannot be removed. Your use of streamed tracks is also subject to Audius's Terms of Use and API Terms.
Previews and cover art come from Apple's catalog and are played from Apple's servers under Apple's terms. If you connect Apple Music, or follow a link to another music service, that service's own terms govern your use of it.
Apple and Apple Music are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
Ambience recordings (rain, fire and the other background channels on the reading page) are field recordings their creators dedicated to the public domain (CC0).
Nothing in these Terms gives you rights in any recording beyond listening to it in Novelody.
10. Books and bookshops
Book details and covers come from public catalogs and from readers, and they may be incomplete or wrong. Novelody does not host the text of books and is not affiliated with any publisher.
Some bookshop links are affiliate links: if you buy after following one, we may earn a commission, at no cost to you. Any purchase is between you and the shop.
11. The iPhone app
We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's usage rules allow. These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app, its content or its support, or for any claim about it. If the app fails to meet a warranty, Apple may refund what you paid for it and has no further obligation. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them. You confirm that you are not in a country under a U.S. embargo and not on a U.S. list of restricted parties.
12. Availability and changes to the service
We do our best to keep Novelody running, but it will sometimes be interrupted, and features change as it grows. We won't remove a Plus extra you are paying for without telling you in advance and offering a refund for the unused part of your period.
13. Our responsibility to you
We provide Novelody with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, it is provided "as is". We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by content that readers or the AI model produced. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €50 if that is more.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud or gross negligence. Nor does anything here take away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in, including the legal guarantee for digital services.
14. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Novelody at any time and delete your account in Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent. It cancels a Plus membership bought on the web; one bought in the iPhone app has to be canceled with Apple.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms or harms other readers or the service, or where the law requires it. Unless the case is serious, we warn you first and give you the chance to put things right. If we close a Plus account for any reason other than a breach, we refund the unused part.
If Novelody is ever shut down, we will give reasonable notice so that you can download your data, and we will refund the unused part of any membership.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service changes. When a change matters, we tell signed-in readers in the app or by email at least 30 days before it applies. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then. Using Novelody after that date means you accept the change.
16. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Poland. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of that country's mandatory consumer law and can bring a claim in its courts. Please write to us first at [email protected]; most things can be settled that way. Consumers in the EU can also turn to an out-of-court dispute body in their country.
